๐ข While my day-to-day as an Air Quality Consultant at Anderson Acoustics doesn’t focus on carbon, the strong emphasis on sustainability and net-zero carbon emissions across all stages of the built environment was truly engaging.
๐ก๏ธ I found the discussions around the future of heat networks particularly interesting, especially the significance of โdegassingโ buildings to more sustainable heat-networks. It highlighted a critical pathway to decarbonisation that I don’t always directly encounter.
โ๏ธ Another key takeaway was the panel discussion surrounding a โJust Transitionโ within the UK built environment. The case studies presented highlighted the vital point that achieving net-zero carbon emissions must be equitable and consider broader societal impacts for projects to be viewed as successful.
๐ฆ On a more relevant note to my day-to-day role, the discussion between Butterfly Air, Smart Building Collective | Certification, and The Instant Group on the importance and benefits of good indoor air quality resonated strongly with my work. It’s always valuable to connect with others championing healthier air quality environments, particularly in areas we spend 90% of our time!
๐ง Overall, FOOTPRINT+ broadened my perspective on the approach needed to achieve a sustainable future for the built environment and how collaboration and knowledge sharing is going to play a vital role in doing so.
