Great time had by the team last month at the annual John Connell Awards aka The Noise Oscars. A key event in the calendar and one we have had the pleasure of sponsoring for many years.
Callum Brewer reflected ‘It was a pleasure to represent Anderson Acoustics at the 2026 John Connell Awards, where we proudly sponsored the Soundscape Award. Congratulations to Sustainable Acoustics Ltd | B Corp™ on a well-deserved win and to Tranquil City on receiving a Highly Commended award. It is encouraging to see the number of Soundscape Award submissions continuing to grow, reflecting the increasing recognition of the importance of soundscape design in the built environment.’
The Award recognises and encourages the development and advancement of soundscape projects demonstrating practical ‘real world’ applications to improve/support health, mental health, wellbeing, aural diversity, green infrastructure, nature-based solutions, and sustainability in indoor and outdoor spaces.
Sustainable Acoustics Ltd | B Corp™ won for its pioneering work applying soundscape principles to a complex noise dispute in residential care. Working with the local authority and clinical team, they developed a tailored acoustic and care strategy designed to protect neighbours’ amenity, while enabling a community care resident to remain in their home.
Investing significant time and expertise in a case involving substantial challenges, Sustainable Acoustics has pushed the boundaries of conventional practice and applied soundscape principles to establish a fairer lived-experience assessment approach that could be applied in future guidance for building standards and community care provision.

Tranquil City and the Environmental Psychology Research Group, University of Surrey were Highly Commended for their innovative Aewell Framework, which evaluates how green infrastructure can improve soundscape and wellbeing. Combining objective environmental measurements with peoples lived experiences, the framework assesses factors including soundscape quality, tranquility, access to nature and wellbeing before and after landscape interventions, and provides a practical evidence base for creating healthier and more inclusive urban environments.
