Aviation Industry Symposium Invitation

AVIATION INDUSTRY SYMPOSIUM INVITATION

Exploring  Fair and Equitable Distribution to Minimise Social Unacceptability of Airspace Design Options

 📅 Date: March 25, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Online)
📍 Virtual Event – Secure Your Spot!

ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

The UK is modernising its airspace, revealing potential conflicts in managing aircraft noise. Some airport communities are worried about fair changes to noise exposure distributions. The aviation industry must balance the economic and social benefits of air transport with the noise impact on nearby communities.

Our recent research was independently sponsored by Gatwick Airport to explore the concept of fair and equitable distribution to minimise social unacceptability of airspace design options and CAA has published our report for research and development purposes only as CAP 2971 (this is not a policy).

Anderson Acoustics Ltd, invites industry professionals to explore our work which has developed a new framework for assessing the social unacceptability risks of different airspace design options.

This symposium will present findings from the “Exploring the Concept of Fair and Equitable Distribution to Minimise Social Unacceptability of Airspace Design Options” report, providing actionable insights for airports, airspace change sponsors, and policymakers.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

The Role of Fairness in Airspace Design – How perceptions of fairness shape community responses
Assessing Relative Social Unacceptability Risk – A structured approach to evaluating relative risk of (un)fairness between different airspace change options
Key Metrics for Noise Distribution – Understanding N65, Person Event Index (PEI), and their role in relative risk assessment
Practical Applications – How the findings could help feed into the existing CAP1616 airspace change process
Engagement Strategies – How transparency and data-driven decision-making might build community trust

WHY ATTEND?

🔹 Get exclusive insights from the research team
🔹 Understand how our relative risk assessment framework can assist in airspace optioneering
🔹 Gain practical tools to enhance community engagement and policy alignment
