Anderson Acoustics provided acoustic design advice on a new build three storey teaching block at Elthorne Park High School in Ealing, West London. This would provide SEN teaching areas, typical classrooms, a library and a drama/performance hall for the school. Working closely with contractors Balfour Beatty and architects Re-Format, we helped to create productive teaching environments which met required Building Control criteria.
With the school under the Heathrow flightpath, the key challenges were to protect the teaching block from aircraft noise and ensure the right acoustic conditions for a wide variety of teaching and learning spaces.
A comprehensive noise survey was undertaken on the site with detailed calculations carried out to ensure internal ambient noise levels conducive to teaching and learning were achieved. A detailed assessment of each space was carried out to inform our client on sound insulation design and the type, placement and area of acoustic absorption to optimise each space for its intended use. This helped to realise the architects’ designs whilst providing appropriate learning spaces for the students.
“Anderson Acoustics have shown great commitment to the project and have delivered a high quality service. This has been a particularly challenging project due to its location on the flightpath and they have been very proactive in their approach. They have a great team who are very skilled in their field and we would like to work with them again in the future.”
