Anderson Acoustics worked with Beyond Waste and Cissbury Consulting to secure planning permission for two Materials Recycling Facilities in Newhaven, Sussex.
Both developments were situated on industrial estates and involved a change of use from existing warehouse facilities. Whilst the nearest noise sensitive receptors for the first facility were on the opposite side of the River Ouze, the second industrial estate had existing residential dwellings adjoining the site and proposals for a housing development nearby were in progress.
Working with our partners, we were able to understand the specific processes on each site. Using noise measurement data and noise modelling techniques, potential noise levels were calculated and their impacts assessed. We then worked with the local authority to address their specific concerns concerning the local situation and sustainability.
Planning permission was successfully delivered for both sites.
