Brewery House, Southsea

Background

Anderson Acoustics provided acoustic consultancy services for this redevelopment of the Brewery House, a historic bottling store in Southsea, Portsmouth.  Located in a conservation area and included on a list of buildings recognised for their particular character or historical interest, the building required renovation to secure its future as part of the area.

The building has been developed to provide seventeen  high quality Build to Rent homes.  Proposals included an expansion at roof level to create an additional storey of accommodation. The existing structure was retained and adapted to suit the new function, with improved sound insulation and high levels of air tightness to provide high quality and comfortable interior spaces.

What we did

Working closely with Architects Re-Format, acoustic consultancy services were provided through the RIBA design stages to ensure all seventeen proposed dwellings met the necessary Building Regulations requirements whilst retaining the buildings wonderful historic features. Plant noise control advice was also provided to accommodate several air source heat pump units which will efficiently provide hot water and heating to the new apartments.
