St James’ Court, A Taj Hotel

Background

Anderson Acoustics was commissioned by Box Associates to advise on the acoustic design for the refurbishment of St James’ Court, A Taj Hotel located at Buckingham Gate, London. The project involves the refurbishment of Almoners, Dukes and Regents houses to provide 207 high quality four-star standard guestrooms spread over 8 floors.

What we did

We have been involved on the project since 2016. During this time, we have advised on the main refurbishment works covering the new guestrooms as well as the spa and wellbeing space, meeting rooms and restaurant areas.

For all these spaces, our advice has covered the control of sound transfer, room acoustics and the control of internal ambient noise (external noise intrusion and building services noise).

We also appraised and advised on re-radiated noise in guestroom areas affected by underground trains passing by from the Circle and District Lines that run below the building.

To serve the refurbished areas new mechanical plant has also been installed for which we have assessed noise emissions to ensure compliance with Westminster City Councils plant noise emissions policy.  This included for the installation of a number of fans and condensers to be located on the roof of the hotel serving a new restaurant fit out.

Project Progress

Many of the ancillary areas are now fully refurbished with the main works for the guestrooms still to be finalised.

We'd love to hear from you
