Background
Our client Norman and Underwood were responsible for designing and installing the façade for this two story research facility in the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Oxford. The building provided 4,500 sqm of research space.
Our Involvement
We were appointed to provide a technical assessment of flanking performance to demonstrate the proposed aluminum stick façade system would meet stringent project requirements.
Our review comprised a desktop study of available laboratory test reports for comparable systems and calculation techniques.
Our assessment identified the need for mass heavy inserts to mullions as well as steel cladding in places where high flanking performance was required.
Our report with recommendations was submitted by our client to the principal contractor Wates and approved.
