Unit 17, Premier Park, Park Royal

Background

Hollis Global commissioned Anderson Acoustics to support the refurbishment of Unit 17, Premier Park, Park Royal, London, targeting acoustics related credits under the BREEAM UK Refurbishment & Fit-Out 2014 scheme. The refurbished premises comprise general office areas, a reception, breakout spaces, WCs, and a plant room, all requiring careful acoustic consideration.

Challenge

To secure three BREEAM Hea 05 credits (acoustic performance) and one Pol 05 credit (reduction of noise pollution), the project needed to:

  • Meet stringent sound insulation targets between sensitive spaces;
  • Control internal ambient noise levels for comfort and productivity;
  • Achieve optimal reverberation times for clear communication;
  • Limit noise emissions from fixed plant to protect nearby residential areas;
  • Demonstrate compliance both at design stage and through post-construction testing.

What We Did

Design Stage:

  • We set bespoke acoustic performance standards in line with BREEAM, British Standards, and British Council for Offices guidance;
  • Detailed design advice covered sound insulation for walls and floors, ambient noise level targets, and reverberation time criteria;
  • Baseline noise surveys established external and internal noise conditions, informing robust design targets for both building fabric and services;
  • Plant noise limits were set conservatively to ensure compliance at the nearest sensitive receptors, even before final plant selection.

Commissioning & Testing:

  • Pre-completion testing was conducted, including airborne and impact sound insulation, internal ambient noise, reverberation time, and plant noise measurements;
  • All tests were performed by UKAS-accredited consultants using calibrated, industry-standard equipment;
  • Testing followed relevant ISO and British Standards methodologies to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Result

  • All acoustic performance targets were achieved: Sound insulation, ambient noise levels, and reverberation times met or exceeded design criteria across all tested spaces;
  • Plant noise emissions were well below required limits: Ensuring no adverse impact on nearby residential properties;
  • Full BREEAM credits secured: The project is eligible for all three Hea 05 credits and the Pol 05 credit, supporting both occupant wellbeing and environmental responsibility.

Project Progress

The project achieved a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating. The refurbishment is now completed. For more information head on over to Hollis’ website here
