We have been working closely with Heathrow Airport Limited for a number of years, supporting the delivery and development of their noise management strategy and long term vision for a successful and sustainable airport. Managing noise is critical to the airport’s future.
We provide genuine value by combining specialist acoustics expertise with a rounded understanding of airports – the context, the business and the operation. This allows us to provide insight that supports the development of effective noise management strategies.
Best practice noise management
We provide support services coordinating the ongoing delivery and development of the airport’s Noise Action Plan (NAP). Our services have included analysis, assessment and review of:
- complaints during operational trials
- potential noise impacts of future airspace change trials
- noise related business processes
- airline agreement on voluntary phase-out of marginally compliant Chapter 3 aircraft
- development of innovative metrics
- stakeholder communication
- noise mitigation scheme design
- internal reporting and research, and
- supporting local stakeholder and community engagement.
A sustainable airport vision – masterplan development and optimisation for the Airports Commission submission.
We provided all of the “air” noise analysis that supported the airport’s submission to the Commission. Utilising the power of advanced noise modelling and spatial/geographic analysis tools, we have worked closely with the Heathrow team to develop, assess and optimise masterplan options.
Collaborating with stakeholders we designed, developed and assessed innovative and realistic ways to reduce impact including airspace design, runway use and mitigation schemes.
Enabling quieter homes
Best practice noise insulation schemes provide assessment and design of property specific sound insulation, In 2013, we provided independent assessment services for the airport’s pilot of their residential noise insulation scheme – the “Quieter Homes Initiative”.
We provided a friendly and professional assessment services to around 300 homes, specifying solutions appropriate to the measured noise conditions. Ongoing validation surveys indicate internal sound level reductions have been achieved and there has been a positive response from residents.
A team that delivers
We continue to work with Heathrow Airport Limited to develop and apply innovative and ground breaking approaches to understanding, managing and communicating airport noise impact.
