Howzat!
The ECE Architecture charity cricket event on 4th September was a roaring success. What was supposed to be a wet and windy day turned to a afternoon of beautiful late summer sunshine. Our team – The Mighty Snickets – put in a solid performance, winning two, losing two and drawing one – not too bad when half the team haven’t played before!
Unfortunately we didn’t quite make the semis, but at least that meant we could join the stands to watch the finals (and have a few pints…).
This was capped off by a lovely barbeque and a raffle all in aid of the amazing Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. Overall there was a stellar batting performances by Harry Foster, exemplary all round play from Peter Akhurst and Thomas Harnett and spirited debuts to the game from Maksims Jelovenko and Caroline McKinlay. And finally Ben Gray who calls himself the team mascot and was there for moral support but did play and we have the photo to prove it!
Special thanks to our Director, Emma Greenland’s son – who definitely works for us and was not bought in just so we could have someone who actually plays cricket in our last game – and the organisers for putting on such a wonderful day.
Congrats to Morgan Sindall Construction for lifting the ashes. We would definately be keen on being invited next year and will bring along our secret weapon when we find it!
