The whole company came together 1st May at lunchtime for an inspiring and informative training session on Neurodiversity Awareness. Delivered by Hannah Ashenden, Burnout Coach and Consultant from Genius Within CIC, the training covered in detail the various neurodivergent conditions and provided insights as to how individuals and the company as a whole can make adjustments in the workplace so all of us can fully participate, contribute and develop.

A related statistic we came across recently – only 22% of autistic adults within the UK are reported to be in any kind of employment, with 64% of employers admitting to having ‘little’ to ‘no’ understanding of neurodiverse conditions (ONS, 2023).
Grady Cook, one of our consultants who has championed this training initiative and who also leads on our equality and diversity policy in the company reflects:- “Yesterday marked a proud moment for Anderson Acoustics as our entire team came together for Neurodiversity Awareness training, skillfully led by Hannah. Admittedly, this training session was long overdue, but it signifies the beginning of a crucial journey towards deeper understanding and respect for each other and ourselves. We’re committed to embracing this journey wholeheartedly, fostering an environment where everyone feels supported, appreciated and comfortable.“

Luc Retour, one of our youngest consultants in the company comments:- “It was extremely heartwarming to see such strong turnout to the neurodiversity training. Raising awareness on neurodiversity is of the utmost importance, but acting on those lessons is a must. I hope that we as a company and as employee owners can continue to invest in making Anderson Acoustics a welcoming workplace for all.”
Reflecting on the session, Hannah said “Honestly, it was a total pleasure to speak to you all. It’s always such a pleasure to talk to an engaged group. There were some really helpful comments, thought provoking questions and great discussion. I love how we ended our discussion on the miraculous power of the vegas nerve too! Thanks everyone for being so welcoming!”
Thank you for a great session Hannah. It has provided us with reassurance, confidence and plenty of ideas for us all to take forward. As a company we are fully invested in creating a workplace that is accessible and nurturing to all staff.
